Have weapons that upgrade as you use them.
Give them special abilities like critical hit and such.

Again this is coming from an older game which is no longer around, but once you master the weapons then what??? Was easy to do in another game.. do a run of about 5k kills and it makes you a master of that weapon 😴 😴 😴 😴
